It's like kids. When they do something wrong or dangerous, don't just tell them no or to stop, give them something else to do to replace the negative behavior.

My rescue dog used to eat bark whenever she went out into the backyard. We had some landscape bark and she’d eat it during her first month with us. Now, she eats normal dog food.

Ah the next morning I ran with my cat and ...... The kittens were dead... The cat had eaten them....
