Very happy that the people pooled together to help the beautiful cats on Mara Island. TNR is so important in controlling the cat population. Now that they are spayed/neutered, the ferocious fights will certainly decrease & the environment will be so much more harmonious for both the cats and the residents there. Great job! Thank you for featuring this.

Are there any programs to get some of them adopted .I have seen some very feral cats become sweet house cats . It is commendable they spay and neuter so many . Thank you to rescue teams and to those who feed these cats !!!❤❤❤

I'm impressed with how healthy they look, the island must do a good job taking care of them! It looks like things were starting to tip over in a bad way, so neutering and spaying will be a big help in keeping the peace.

Glad to see this enormous project for spay/neuter for all island cats. I still am concerned about the predation of wildlife as all cats were returned.

So sad that they didn't neuter the cats from the beginning. Then the amount of cats wouldn't have grown so big. Neutering won't help if they don't do ALL the cats though, because just TWO cats can reproduce alot of cats and then their kittens reproduce being just about 5 months old... And the problem goes on and on... I really hope they try to catch and neuter all of them in time... 🙏

I'm wondering if the place didn't have a vet to spay them. The reason I say this is that it seems unlikely that ALL the community wouldn't fix the cats.

Impossible to neuter and spay all of them. There would be at least a few that escape. If all are neutered and spayed, then there wouldn't be anymore cats lol.

Gracias por aunar esfuerzos para esterilizar a los gatos, espero que los gatos de la planta de incineracion puedan tener una mejor vida ahora y ser alimentados como los demas. Pero creo que deberian esterilizarlos a todos, porque si no, este problema se va a repetir, los gatos se reproducen muy rapido.Gracias a todos los que ayudaron y a los habitantes de la isla de Mara por alimentarlos. On voit bien qu'ils sont nourris par le village. Ce sont des chats qui ont été adopté par le village pour faire fuir les rats. Ils sont semi sauvages, mais évidemment comme ils n'ont pas été stérilisés, le nombre c'c'est multiplier à une grande vitesse. Espérons qu'ils aient une belle vie... Quand aux oiseaux, on ne peut pas retirer l'instinct des chats....

Most feral cats will not adapt to living indoors. It's much easier to acclimate them to that if you get them as kittens.

Neutering calms the cats and of course the people now knowing where they all live make sure every cat is well fed with cat food and probably attention as well!

Even well fed cat instinctively hunts ands kills animals and birds. Diffrence is he won't eat it. So returning them won't help birds at all

Great job neutering the male cats. However, now you must also focus your attention to spay the female cats as well to prevent the overpopulation of unwanted cats and kittens as well, since its the female cats that are giving births to multiple litters of kittens in this and in many other cases. There are now chemically neutering and spaying cats in many parts of the western world as well.

It was not reported that the females were not spaded. Neuter refers to male cats and spaded refers to female cats. But the end result is that both sexes are sterilized. I hope the cat's ears were tipped so they they know which cats had been fixed (sterilized).

I'm sure these people that have been doing this program professionally since 2001 really needed your help, bud. You just taught all of their licensed animal behaviorists and vets something I'm sure they had no idea about and didn't consider.
