@tohru No, the reason is not made by humans. This video is focusing on the psychological reasoning behind why this specific rabbit acted in such a way. He was socially isolated due to his droopy ears, eventually, he lashed out at other rabbits' ears. And the same could be said about humans if you place them in such small quarters. Just like humans, each animal is an individual with their own set of feelings and psychology, and they too can feel stress. Add to that the possibility of mental instability (for any animal), and the result won't look too great.

Best way to fix this is to get 1-2 droopy eared rabbits like him and spend time with him for awhile while supervised and hopefully his stress can slowly go away and with his new friends can join the other rabbit and can co-exist, rabbits even with some differences should never be alone so I hope they can get some droopy ear rabbit friends. Torang (the isolated rabbit who was biting the others’ ears) also seems to have a case of head tilt (torticollis). This may make him more aggressive because he is uncomfortable. Then we can know there is an end, and it will be in, Part 2! This is one of my favorite pages. If it leaves me with a knot in my stomach after this, I'm going to have to stop watching and unsubscribe, which means the 1000+ friends I have on facebook wont be able to see them either. I inherited a bunny who had been abused by a child. Box trained, grew into a beautiful rabbit. But was mean. Couldn't leave it alone with cats who were terrified of it, or allow kids to be around it. No amount of love or feeling of safety made any difference. He liked to run around in the yard, fenced. Finally let him stay out where he seemed happier. Very Sad, but not his fault. I kept him for his entire life, knowing he was not re-homeable. Very sensitive beings. Not good pets for young children, or kids that haven't learned to treat animals with kindness. Damage done can't be undone. Have had other's; loving and sweet. Raised with love and gentleness, were great pets. But do enjoy chewing through electric wires.

So, isolation from the group made the bunny violent towards others? Also happens with human beings. We are not that different after all -- we as humans are social animals too.

Man this does explain alot. I have a lop eared bunny that starting being agressive twords others. Even though they were previously bonded. Now i feel bad cause she is the only one of her kind. Id believed it could have something to do with it but this confirms those suspicions.

Rabbits are very social creatures. I rescued 2 bunnies a year apart & they lived long happy lives until their deaths at 10 years of age. This poor lonely ear biter rabbit needs companionship, human touch & love.

Rabbtis will always fight like this if they are kept in groups in an enclosed area. The owner needs to spay and neuter and rabbits to prevent fighting and unwanted babies. The male rabbit is just territorial and asserting dominance, but the others can't escape him in the confines of the cage. It has nothing to do with it having hurt feelings because of its ears are different!!! Owner needs to do research on how to house and keep rabbits properly.

Ugh... Suchs a pitty that those people have no understanding of rabbit behavior! I've seen so many signs that can simply be resolved by making smaller groups of rabbits that character wise like each other. It will reduce the stress that has got everyone fighting with each other. 😢

Wow, that's incredible, & is a good psychology lesson about differences & how they're handled by other mammals. I wonder if reptiles would respond the same under the same conditions? I would take the sad rabbit home w/ me & love him up, if he felt safe the behavior would probably stop ❤️

That rabbit will dig under the fence. To attack the others if it's inclined. Unless its rock beneath him. I agree with giving him his own space. Let the others forget about it, give him toys..was he a pet? Itd be awful to go from inside to out with rabbits, if he's only known human contact.

The rabbit suffered neglect from his peers, he will only feel more isolated if he was to be fully away from the other rabbits. It would be best if he learned how to properly behave with the other rabbits. I also think it would be good to get another rabbit that has droopy esrs, but at the same time the rabbit might still attack it due to the stress

This is nonsense. He doesn't have the self awareness to think about how he's left out cus his ears are different. Rabbits can't even recognize their own reflection. He probably doesn't even know his ears are different. If the other rabbits where excluding him it's probably because he was crazy to begin with.

Absolutely not true. Wild rabbits can get violent but not like this and not with such a patten. This is definitely a habit that started from stress and paranoia. Rabbits are living things that experience trauma and stress just like a human can, which can develop like the habit displayed there. Think of it like a serial killer who suffered abuse and had a set pattern to their kills.

I think the separation/isolation needs to be a bit more of a divide like in a separate building or the other side of the house if the owner doesn't want him inside the house. I get that the owner wants things to be convenient for him and for the rabbit's transition back to the group, but that separation is not enough, the bunny may go crazy, and integrating him back may go awry and unintended

I find some parts in the video a bit infuriating, First of all rabbits should not be housed in large numbers and outdoors, also the place they are living in is disgusting. I find it really mean that you picked a rabbit up by the ears at one point, but it is good you found the rabbit who was doing it. Rabbits should be free roamed indoors or have a large x pen, they will develop a very strong bond with their owner, trust me I know because I own one, and if I were you, I would've tended to the rabbits wounds as soon as possible, not tried to find the culprit. And I know some of you will flare up at me about that but it would've atleast saved the poor bunny that died in the video, and why on earth are you letting a domestic rabbit go loose in the forest? You need to contain it or it will most likely starve, or be mauled by something, domestic bunnies do not have the features of a wild rabbit to survive.

I understand where you’re coming from but naturally rabbits can handle being large groups and being outdoors.. that’s in their nature. I’ve taken vet tech classes , worked with animals for 12 years now. It is actually healthier for them to be outdoors. And a story, there is a large group of rabbits near where I live that are clearly not wild, at least not starting out, and they run around everywhere. There is plenty of food for rabbits in a forest area and those rabbits I always see are even mating and producing healthy young. So don’t worry so much, it is possible that maybe you don’t understand the true nature of rabbits. But I do understand your concerns because I am an animal lover too. They did have a vet there so I’m sure they were tending to the wounds but they also really need to catch the one who did it right away and this video focused mostly on finding out who did it. But behind the scenes they have a vet there and a vet will not ignore wounds.

I have a little Netherlands dwarf rabbit who was traumatized by his brothers when he was little. Of course I had to remove him from them as he would try to hide somewhere, sitting awkwardly hunched up as if his back was broken (which at first I thought it was). He came to live in my bedroom and he regained his courage and vitality, and some months later I carefully tried to reintroduce him back with his family. He was as aggressive as a mad devil and began attacking his five brothers all at once. Naturally they retaliated and I had to drag him out, his left ear badly punctured and torn, with several bites in his back and his nose bitten. Again he lost his courage and resumed sitting in his hunched position, but after three weeks back in my bedroom he leveled-out. I've since had him and his brothers neutered and will try to reintroduce him to them, one at a time... in my car with the engine running to distract them from their macho violence routine. Hopefully it will eventually work out for him. If not, I shall get one of the girls spayed (which is due anyway as some who are now 2 years old) and try to settle him down with her. I have a small ranch, so I'm around the homestead just about all the time and regularly make checks on him. But regardless, it's sad to see him lonely, which I know he is. Love Rabbits !!!
