I have a cat that died when I was young. He gets poisoned by the other kids that feed him powder and expired cat food. I never forget when I came home my cat was gone. Someone threw my cat away at a place that's far from my home and now I would never forget the moment when I played with him when I was young. Until now I still remember him playing around with me. Most people dont realise that if you have crisco (or lard) you can put some on your finger and put it at the back of a cat or dogs throat. Close the mouth and force them to swallow. The grease coats the stomach and absorbs the poison. The animal will then vomit the grease up. Saved my daughters puppy from rat poison by doing this.

It's different in different places. Housecats are a plague to the environment, and I've had to kill a few in the past. I breed singing finches in an indoor aviary in my house, and when the cats hear them chattering inside, they target my property. These outdoor pests have done thousands of dollars worth of damage to my home, and have nearly killed my sweet breeding hen (female finch) bashing on my windows at night and yowling like banshees. I bought an air rifle and started shooting them when they did this, and now my problems are gone. These cats need to be culled in huge numbers, like they do in Australia and NZ. In the end, it was my pets' safety and livelihood vs. some idiot's outdoor "pe(s)t" and I had to kill the offending animals. Live trapping only resulted in the owner coming to my home to scream at me because they had to pay a $150 shelter fee to get their cat, and they said I should pay because I took the cat to the shelter. After that, I just started shooting them and disposing of the corpse. When the neighbors come asking where their cat is, I just act clueless and tell them they will be charged with harassment and trespassing if they don't leave me alone.

Unfortunately, people put way too much reliance on governments. We should all realise by now, 95% (if not 100%) of governments worldwide are only interested in rewarding themselves and their cronies - the PEOPLE come LAST for these politicians. If we want to save cats, we should do our own trap, spay/neuter and find homes or seek help from shelters (if they exist in your place). I do admit that the finding homes part is a major obstacle/difficulty.
