Actually it's more like a mother having a favourite child and wanting to be friends and hang out but not knowing correct way of doing that. Momma wasn't attacking puppy in a negative way. She was playing with her, albeit a bit rough.

I don’t believe it was play, it appeared to me that she responded PICKING on one puppy, while basically allowing the other “kids” run wild. As though one “child” or “children” were favored above the others. I wish some animal behaviorist would view it & comment on it. And yes, I realize that I’m imposing human values & feeling upon the dog family. It just seems to me that when one sees child abuse, one recognizes it, no matter what the species. I’ve read that (according to studies done by animal behaviorist), dog actually recognize what’s “fair” & what’s NOT fair. The recognize unjustified treatment. Just one dog lovers opinion.

@@bonnielong5812 I am speaking as someone who has studied animal behaviour. Mom did not prevent puppy from eating. Puppy would be eating just fine while mom was eating and when mom was done she wanted to play. If mom had wanted to prevent puppy from eating she would have attacked her before she started eating, and it would have been more aggressive and vocal. Mom would also not have been eating her own food while puppy was in the same room. The only way for both to be able to enjoy their meal would have been to feed them in separate rooms where mom can't see puppy. They were eating completely fine in the same room. Mom also never bit puppy. Have you even seen dogs play?? Dogs don't have hands so they use their mouth as hands for certain things. Dogs even play with their mouths with humans [tug of war, fetch, etc.]. Have you never heard of "mouthing"? Many wild animals play the same way. Even wolves use their mouths to play. As for the chasing, dogs chase each other all the time. It's instinct. If mom was aggressive her body language would have been more rigid instead of opened. Instead her tail was wagging, she was jumping, and her body language was relaxed. No one growled, bared teeth, flicked their tongue, or was salivating. Besides, did you even watch the video? The trainer even said mom was not attacking aggressively. They said mom was playing with that particular puppy because she was the biggest of the litter and was most likely the only one who reacted when mom wanted to play. Mom had a very high energy level and needed to lower her energy to not be as rough. She needed to be taught other ways to play, which is exactly what the trainer did using tug of war. It's not right to impose human emotions/feelings/values/etc on animals because they are not humans therefore don't behave, or think like humans. They are a different species who communicate, think, play, etc very different from humans and we should always remember that. Animals also do not "abuse" other animals. The only reasons animals attack other animals is for food, defense, protection, and territory, or if they are aggressive which is something that animals learn from humans. Humans teach dogs to be aggressive by rewarding and encouraging aggressive behaviour, even if they don't realize that they are rewarding and encouraging that behaviour. While mom's behaviour might have not been aggressive it was important to change the behaviour at an early stage because it could turn to aggression later on.

myfairytalelife3 It just seemed to me that the poor pup was cowering every time the mother bite her; the pup covered her abdominal area in a defensive posture. And yes, I’m close to 73 years old and have had dogs since w was 7 years old, usual 2 to 3 at a time. The mothers “playing” seemed so aggressive, but your the expert here. It just didn’t appear to me to be “friendly, playful” behavior. She didn’t do that to the other pups.

@@semerka72478 подрасла дочурка - уже 2 годика и начались проблемы : агрессия со стороны мамы , играют вместе да , но мама все больше и больше начинает атаковать малышку , рычит и иногда кусает , видимо больно , гонит ее с их спального места , не разрешает подходить ко мне . Вообшем участились атаки со стороны мамы , хотя малышка ее очень любит , всегда защищает , но у мамы , все чаще проявляется агрессия против малышки , начинаю волноваться за малышку , все чаще прячется под диваном от мамы .

@@margarittamargo2642 по ходу это ревность. Собаки не понимают, что это их дети. Она теперь с ней соперничает за ваше внимание. На видео психолог делает так: держат мамашу в стороне и играют с щенком, а маму поощеряют. Постепенно выводя их играть вместе с веревкой в перетяжку. Долгая работа, по ходу. Но можно постараться)))

@@margarittamargo2642 для начала мать сидит и смотрит как играет ее дочь, а потом они вдвоем начинают играть, здесь канат, который они могут таскать с разных сторон. И постепенно их игра в команде перерастает в отношения, может быть не мать-дочь, но хотя бы как партнёры по игре. Где они в одной команде.
